Having this Surgery done on my 105 lb Lab this week at a specialist’s office in Athens Ga. They expect a full recovery in 6 months. The surgery runs about 3k. The more conservative and cheaper suture surgery really is only rated to 100 pounds so we are having the tibia leveling surgery done.

@ierocake
My grandma had a ruptured cruciate ligament and she ‘ignored’ it for 3 months untill she went to the docter. She said that some days it hurt alot and others it was fine. Maybe it’s the same with your dog.
Anyway, I would go to the vet if I were you. maybe it’s something diffrent, maybe it’s a sore muscle or another ligament or something…

My dog is showing the exact same signs as the Chocolate Labrador at the start! He’s eating well, drinking well, even cleaning himself. It not sore to touch, and he can even bend it. His leg starts spasming sometimes, which is scary. Could anybody tell me why it does?

My Siberian Husky was operated on in August of 07 for a TPLO. She has been great since that time. Two days ago she started yelping with pain from that leg. It lasted about 20 seconds and then subsided. It recurred 3 or 4 times a day even during the night. My vet told us to give her Baby aspirin a couple of times a day and make an appointment with the Dr. who did the surgery. We have an appointment with him on Thursday May 5th. Will update you after that appointment.

Restricted activity which means no long walks, stairs, curbs, etc. Cutting down on snacks to maintain healthy weight. Glucosomine and Chondroitin supplements for joint health. Lastly, lots of massage for the affected leg. Hope that helps. It does take time to heal. Wish you the best of luck.

Hi, what was your conservative management?
My old dog has a heart condition [as well] and its unsafe to put him under general anaesthetic.

I actually opted for conservative management of the injury. She is now back to full weight bearing on the affected knee and can run almost as fast as before. I still restrict her from jumping and climbing stairs.

Our boxer just got home from her TTA surgery yesterday. She tore her ACL months ago and just now we are treating it Yes it was expensive about $4,000 but worth it. Now the hard part will be the long recovery. 6-12 week lease only and probably 4 mons untill she can play with her friends again, If I let her!! The recovery is supposedly excellent but we shall see. Good luck

My dog tore her ACL today. I’m dreading this surgery and the recovery time but I can’t stand to see her limp. Anyone have experience with this?

we have just had our dog operated on (yesterday) and it was about £800! He will also need aftercare which we have not yet paid for. The vet has suggested aquatherapy.

My dog has been lame on his right back leg for three weeks but so expensive for xrays and surgury. Do you know about how much a cruciate surgury is?
